Confession #1: I love making petticoats. I really think they are my favorite thing to make. They are simple but for some reason extremely satisfying. So this weekend I made two; a brown one, and a nice “federal blue” one.
Confession #2: I’m a sucker for linen. Denver Fabrics is having a 100% linen sale until the 25th if anyone’s interested! I somehow managed to restrain myself from buying any because I went through my stash and realized I have a pile of linen about two feet tall. But they have some beautiful summery colors if you are in the market for a summer gown.
I DID, however, buy some linen for a new shift. The only one I have is cotton broadcloth that I made back in highschool. I figured it was high time to make a real shift out of linen. My goal is to be done in time to go to Mt. Vernon on the 4th of July. I also am going to try to make a black silk bonnet. Cross your fingers. There’s really not that much information out there.
Next project up: a riding habit. I started it back in 2009 and I should just finish it. It’s going to be brown and green with an odd but complimentary orange and purple shot silk for facing and accents. I’ll post pictures in a day or two.
