Now that I’m over the excitement of finishing the waistcoat…

… here’s more information about it.

Pattern: mostly my own. It’s really a combination of Sharon Burnston’s quilted waistcoat, my JP Ryan Jacket patterns, and a man’s waistcoat pattern I found online somewhere. Most of the waistcoats I’ve seen for the middle of the century seem to be longer but I made the executive decision to shorten mine. I thought it looked better with the jacket and everything being a bit shorter.

The front is green wool broadcloth from Wm. Booth and Draper. I made a cloak out of it years ago and I’ve been trying to use the scraps up ever since. The back is just white linen. The trim is orange/purple shot silk from goodness knows where. The pieces are whip stitched together with 60/2 linen thread. The buttons are 1 inch pewter.
